I really appreciate hearing your story Yana. I also like how you didn’t leave out the discrimination that came after those temporary acts of kindness. Thank you for keeping it real. I’m not very well traveled but I was in NYC on Saturday 9/8/ 01. The weekend before 9/11. I remember a peace that surpasses all understanding was over the city that day. I remember when we entered the city I remembered being in awe at how magnificent those two towers looked. Like I said I haven’t traveled anywhere so this was new to me. When we left at night I took a look at the skyline with the until I couldn’t see it anymore. There were fireworks that evening and I don’t remember what was the occasion. I remember falling in love with cityscapes after that. The next time I saw the 2 towers they were on fire. I watched the today show when they cut live to the first tower. It just seemed like a fire. I saw the second plane hit the other tower on live Tv. It was shocking. It was clear instantly what was going on after that.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years .That seems so long ago.
